Hi guys,

This is a call out to veteran collectors and players....

I'm buying a 2x4 case pretty soon, but some people have been advising me that since I'm gonna be in the game for quite a bit, there is a very high possibility that I will have more cues than I have now sometime down the line. Also, another factor is that 3x5s don't cost much more than 2x4s....but I just thought that since I'll be bringing this case around to different pool halls, just carrying what I have is least tiring approach! Also, someone pointed out that the resale value for used cases is pretty low too...

Do you guys then own 3x7s or so, but when going to play, just pack in the playing cues?

Hey raemondo, I recently switched from a 2x4 to a 3x6 simply for the convenience of having more room. Im always buying, selling, or trading so its nice to have an extra slot. Now we all know you dont need any more than a playing cue, break cue, and jump cue but it is nice to have space to put that cue you bought off the road player strapped for cash or that cue your buddy is thinking about buying but doesnt have the money yet. So unless you dont care about any of that then I would go for the 2x4 but do recommend the 3x6 and if weight is the issue then just keep 2 cues in there. Hope I helped

The 3x6 or 7 doesn't weigh that much more (unless it's filled :) ) so I like the larger case.

2X4? 3X6? I like my 4X8 soft case, with 3 pockets, it opens lengthwise and if I really needed to, could put a few more shafts in there, no sweat. For heaven sakes, I can pack my lunch in there, if necessary. Not made of leather, so if it rains, there's no danger of ruining it. Paid $95 for it too... sweet.

More room for accessories too...

I recently picked up a 3x6 and aside from the cue storage the other thing I really like is that the outside pockets are wider It is a "flat" design with 2 rows of cues and shafts, as opposed to some of the 3x6 designs which use a 3x3 square layout) which gives me ample room for all my accessories, jump cue butt and extension.

As the 3x6 is Vinyl it does not weight much more than the leather 2x4 I'm replacing. However if you get a full leather 3x6 I can imagine it may weight quite a bit more.

I used to have an Action 3x5 case because I thought at the time of purchase that I would be in need of having a backup cue. However as time progressed I came to the realization that I had no need for it. The case was getting bothersome to lug around, it was heavy, and it took up quite a bit of space in my car.

I finally decided to sell the 3x5 and I now have a Porper 2x4 hard case. It's light thus making it easy to tote around, it doesn't take up as much room & it holds my cues tightly. Also, the pouches are quite roomy on it and well-suited to my cue accessory needs. Overall I'm quite pleased with it so far.

First off, I think you're nutz.

That being said, I would buy the 2x4. If in fact you do go on a crazy binge and decided to buy more cues, then buy more cases or a bigger case at that time. If you're saying you're going to have disposable cash for more cues, then surely you'll have more disposable cash for more cases. But, if playing is your concern, then go with a 2x4. If you break with a house cue, go with a 1x2 or 1x1.
