On some old belt drive American steel, you can tap under "friction" .
Release the spindle and power up.
The belt will still spin the chuck with some power .
It actually works well for linen wrap work.

Yeah, that's how I do both operations it allows me to stop the chuck by hand. Great for wraps I can control the speed with the variable drive although the spindle is not engaged. I do have 3 phase and instant reverse but I prefer this way.

.380 AND .381 reamers, plus all of my bits are 3 flute carbide. I think the reamers were 60.00 a piece.

I use the reamers for the pin barrels

Carbide is a must, worth the extra $ and last forever drilling wood. :)
