im sorry if this is a stupid question:embarrassed2::embarrassed2:...
but
1) could someone explain the difference to me?? please??
2)can you interchange shafts to both pins
ie you get a shaft for a 3/8 -10 pin cue
can you use it on a butt that has a 3/8 -10 flat faced pin??
you can tell im not a cuemaker..:embarrassed2: just someone trying to learn..:)

Here is Bob's explanation

I'm not sure however if he uses a custom pin but the basic is that the depth of the
threads is adjusted (inside the shaft) so the thread is not as deep as the "normal" ones.
This is then compensated for with a larger diameter on the pin to give a larger
contact surface to the threads inside the shaft.
I would expect that a normal pin would work but the spacing between the pins
threads and the threads in the wood would be larger than normal.
If this makes any difference - I don't know.
