I have a shaft that I did not crossthread, but evidently got too tight I guess. The threads are stripped out. It is a predator shaft taylor made for my cue. Can this be fixed or is it now fire wood?

I'd send it back to the original builder. It can be fixed.

fairly simple process. counter boar shaft a little smaller than the joint collar , a inch and a half to 2 inches deep. epoxy in plug of new wood, I like to use cocobola or ebony on the closer threads, drill, tap, and reface. Better than new.

If you use phenolic for the plug, then you'll never have to worry about it happening again. The "hit" will be the absolute same as before. You'll have a real problem trying to get the phenolic to strip out.

Absolutely no difference. I used to swear by a wood threaded shaft for playability...now every shaft in my case is with the phenolic insert. Excuse my for saying, I don't mean to hurt your feeling but you should of stayed with the 3/8-10 pin. A lot of people are having an issue with Radial pin cues becoming loose occasionally. When a customer insist that I use a radial pin...I do some "secret" tricks to the threads to make them EXTRA tight. So tight in fact that my wife can not completey screw the cue together. This eliminates the cue vibrating loose.
That being said...my personal playing cue is 3/8-10, the radial has no advantage whatsoever other than looking trick. If you want to try something different that will play stellar...try the glass epoxy 3/8-10.
