I have a McDermott cue with 3/8x10 pin. I am wanting to get a carbon shaft, a friend of mine uses and recommends j flowers carbon fiber shaft. From what I can tell this only come in 3/8x11. Can that be used on my McDermott, or would that risk damaging the thread?

No. Different thread.

You can get the J Flowers shaft plugged and tapped for 3/8-10 but meh, just try your friends cue and worry about this change if your game jumps up 3 balls

Thank you,, that's what I figured. Trying to find a lower cost shaft. A few players I know did not like the McDermott defy shafts, so I hope this would work 😂

There is not one single shaft that fits every player. If you really want one, you MUST invest the time and practice to get use to it. But that still doesn't mean it's going to be the best for you. Time will tell.
