3-c Martineau & Banner

Looking for some feedback on the following instructional lit -
Sid Banners' book on 3-c and Daryl Martineaus' book on 3-c - what is your opinion on them as I have both and they seem complex - as far as memorization is concerned - I used to play 3-c but reside in an area where the rms have no Billiard tables - Robt Byrnes & Eddie Robbins - seemed bettter for me at my level -

No idea on the Banner book but I have a photocopy version via Spain of the Martineau book. The Mart book is all ball-band systems, which is harder than a basic diamond system rail system because you have to figure the angle plus the ball hit. I use two of the short rail systems, and the ticky system, and I think they're great. You need to practice with them, can't just try them on the fly, but they work surprisingly well. Short angles I can estimate, they're just a double check, but I always found tickies very difficult to figure. I always use the ticky system, and if you spend a little time with it, it's very accurate. I'm good at memorizing things, though, you need to be able to memorize all the diamond numbers and be able to pull them out of your head on the spot. I have a table at home, so I have the peace and quiet to do that and practice. If you have to do it in a hall, probably alot harder. If you don't like doing homework, it won't work.
