Hello. I just got the concrete poured into my basement and got 2 lolli columns put in to get the clearance for a new slate 9ft table. I am going to soon be shopping for a 9footer and would appreciate some advice. I got 3 grand to put into the table alone. The less I spend, the more I can put into other things such as furniture, better lighting, etc......

If I do go used, what should I look out for. I am going to spend a few hours this weekend doing some research online on what I shouild look out for since I'm sure there is some info on this forum as well as other sites. Also going to look at the new prices of tables and used prices. The cloth is not a big deal, because If I do go used, I'm putting simonis 860 on it anyway. Are rails expensive to replace and should I be careful to inspect them fully? Should a lot of weight be given to the fact that the used table is currently level? Anyone Table mechanics in Connecticut/New England area that could come look at tables with me? :) Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What are the best tables in your opinions? Bruiswick, Olhausen, Diamond?

If I go used, I am going to have it professionaly set up and leveled since I hate leveling pool tables, Been there done that and my back and neck will thank me :).

just my opinion ...

I would prefer an Olhausen or a good Brunswick. Check around, within 250 mile radius for any billiard rooms that may have gone under, and are selling off their
tables. You can get a good deal that way.

What balls are you going to get? Arimith Pro or Brunswick Centinential?

I think if you're really interested in getting a table that plays well and is similar to what you'll find in the poolroom, I would go with a commercial table from any of the three brands you mentioned. Even though the standard Brunswick Crown IV is rather expensive for the private citizen, they have other commercial tables that play almost identically. The Centurion is a model I might not recommend to a poolroom because of the rigors it would need to endure but for home use it plays no different than the Crown IV and is a fraction of the cost.

The home-model tables I've played on are oftentimes a complete joke. The pockets are huge and the rails are dainty and only vaguely resemble sports equipment. I mean, if you're looking to increase the value of your home, this is the way to go. If you're looking to create a training room for your US Open debute, you should get a commercial table. If it were me, I'd look at Diamond first and if the price weren't right, I'd immediately go after the Centurion. You should be able to get one out of the box for no more than $2,500.

Find a good used GC I or II for around 2K.
Spend the money on paint and new cloth/cushion.
It will be a project but worth it.

Aramith Pro.

I was considering a Sardo tight rack, but I am just going to go with a good quaility wooden rack.

Thanks everyone for your information, much appreciated!
