Unless I am mistaken in what I am seeing, it seems like there are sanding papers glued to that device, which is basically the exact opposite of "Last Forever". Explain to me what I am missing here.

Have tried to do a search on this question but not having any luck.

Are the 3-in-1 tip tools a good useful tip shaping/maintenance tool?? It would be nice to be able to carry a single tool instead of 2-3 different things. Something like this unit from Cuetec (https://www.cuetec.com/products/tip-shaft-and-cue-maintenance/bowtie-tip-tool-red-copy/).

Thanks
One of those was good enough for Scott Frost to "forget" to return mine after he borrowed it during our match at DCC.. 😁

I like mine. I have different things including a Last 4 Ever, which is a good tool. For one thing in your case to scuff and shape a little I think the cue tec bow tie is great. I have a piece of leather to burnish which I prefer to the leather strip on the last 4 ever. No knock on the last 4 ever. I don’t overdo my tip scuffing. I also am careful if I decide to use the porcupine thing. However, a red bow tie tool is my go to now.

The shaping ends need to be machined in. I don't use the needles.

Porper Tip Tacker puts enough holes in my tips without tearing/weakening the tip structure.
PJ only pokes the top (in before PJ argues he only pokes the top.)

It's not sandpaper it's emory.

I'm another +1 on this tool. In the 20+ years of playing this is the best tool ever. I got rid of so many other tools and replaced it with just this.

I started using the Tiger tip tool, it's like the " dragon tongue" style, I stopped using the pick with layered tips, the dragon tongue style shapers take so little of the tip off and leave it perfect for holding chalk, I use the LAST4EVER for shaping a new tip and the Williard dime radius tool and the the Tiger tip tool for maintenance.

or just get a piece of sandpaper and use that. does the same thing as all the other tip things just not as convenient.
or maybe it is.
but that thing BBB showed is basically the same process just in a more usable form.

and if your tip is needing scuffing more than after many many hours of play, your tip is shot, or you are imagining things to deal with your not hitting the cue ball where you are aiming.

you dont need this thing to play good pool
its pointless to obsess over a bit of mushrooming. it doesnt prevent misses or create them.

Shane's tip at the world 8ball appeared mushroomed in the close-ups they showed in his matches. Must not matter as much as we think.
My current traveling tip tool is the AB Earth cuboid.
If you're careful, it does most things very well.

So it wasn't just me that noticed.
I have a last forever combo and use it when I replace a tip.
I have a 3 in 1 that I carry in my case that I use occasionally when playing.
Also have a Williard Dime shaper.
Like all 3.

I have the "last forever" tip tool but I find it seems to take a lot of the tip off.
It works well for heavy work.
It is a great tool
Just shaping, I like the good old reliable simple Willard.

I've been told by multiple top level cue builders and tip installers that you should never poke or drastically shape a layered tip, instead only lightly sand with a curved tool pictured multiple places in this thread.
