1. I wish pool was as popular as the NFL. For the U.S. Open (our Super Bowl), people would be at the grocery stores getting extra snacks for the "big games", fans would wear their favorite players t-shirts, TV and ESPN would have whole days devoted to micro-analyzing and breaking down each player, special guests (past & present pool greats) would serve as in studio experts, newspapers would cover every angle, etc.
2. I wish our sport's magazines were like the golfer's mags...they have IN DEPTH INTERVIEWS WITH THEIR GREAT PLAYERS that when you finish reading them, you actually know someting about that person and their private persona. Our mags give us amateur competition results, the same rehashed table review, gameroom review, and if they do a biographical piece, it's usually a 3-4 page summary of that person's career. No question and answers, just an overview. Mike Gefner & Tom Shaw should be allowed to really sit down and INTERVIEW these great champions.
3. I wish pool champions and greats would have books written about them, sit down interviews on the TV programs that interview movie stars, that they would have a REAL Hall of Fame worthy of their great accomplishments. All that we could know them better and they could know what pleasure their true fans derive from following their careers.
Oh what a wonderful world it would be!
