30" Shaft Question

I'm on the short side at 5'6" and have to reach and use an extension more than I like. Do you think a 30" shaft would benefit me or is there another reason to use one?

Thanks,

Maybe...but it's interesting to note that Nick Varner (about your height, I think) plays with a 57 inch cue. Most of the advantage of a longer cue length seems to benefit taller players or players with longer arms...it fits their frame better for a smooth, straight stroke. I also believe that the thinner, longer cues of today may be a little better for today's equipment...but who knows? I think the extra inch or two doesn't help your reach, getting proficient with a bridge does.

I went to a 60 inch cue years ago, and never looked back...but I'm 6'3" and the standard length cue kind of crowded my stroke.

It's a personal preference! I use a 30"! Before you do anything, always remember, it's not what I use, he uses, she uses, or whatever! It's all about what you like!

I would have thought 1" wouldn't have made much difference. For me I couldnt have been more wrong. Maybe I'm a hypersensitive ( or just a mental case), but it changed the balance point and left me using that long bridge like the pinoy players do, only I couldn't play like Efren or Francisco, I just couldn't control my stroke and I played like me getting used to a new cue and not having much luck. I put the regular shaft back on and I had the nuts all night. It's getting acustomed to a new tool and like most people I resist change. So now I have a 30" 314-2, and a 30" Z2, both with Kamui tips and both in new condition and sitting in the case. Better luck be with you, it didn't work out for me at all

Go try one out for yourself, but find one in your mm preference, you will know immediatly, can't possibly say if you would benefit or not, I'm 5'10" but have always prefferred longer cues, when my cousin at 6'2" prefers 58 inch cues. So who knows

I thought I read here or heard on a stream that Nick when to a 3 1/2" Balance Rite? I might have him mixed up with another player. Johnnyt

I'm 5'-7" and play with a 30/30.
If I was 6'-5" I would play with a 30/30.
