I have a cue that came with 2 314-3 shafts i love the cue and I like LD shafts the 314-3 has proven over time to be my least favorite hitting shaft. I have tried the 314-3 on multiple cues pins and tips never like it I feel its due to the thick carbon fiber pad under the tip and I know this is part of there v tech technology and voids any warranty. but has anyone changed the ferule and maintained the LD properties while changing the hit. I am generally not a fan of any kind of fiber pads under the tip imo it makes a stiffer fake hit.there has been a few that hit good though.

Jared ... there is no "fake hit" ... it is what it is and what you dont like someone else will.
At least you are farther along than others as you seem to know what it is that you like and dont like in a pool cue.

A custom cue should be just that ... set up and tuned to what YOU like.

We are all looking for that "magic" cue that will make us play like a pro.
I haven't found mine yet!

That Pad is a very important part of that ferrule design not failing. removing it does a lot more then just void the warrantee
