you might want to try a 314 first. going from a Z to a V is a massive difference in hit/feel imo.cool, I'm currently shooting with a Z3 for about a year and i love the deflection and firm hit, but it occasionally feels a little unwieldy hitting long stop shots or long draw shots. Like im just a hair off center and it punishes me. I know its stroke related, but my stroke is actually pretty good so im just looking for a touch more forgiveness from the shaft to help with that little extra consistency
I play with a Barnhart and prior to the Z3 i was using the standard maple shaft thats 13mm and 4oz. I really like the shaft but the deflection was killing meyou might want to try a 314 first. going from a Z to a V is a massive difference in hit/feel imo.
I would recommend trying the vantage shaft. It is very close to a solid (non-laminated) wood shaft in feel, but seems to transmit more power and lower deflection due to the design/taper. IMO, it also feels higher quality/more robust than the Z3 and the 314.I play with a Barnhart and prior to the Z3 i was using the standard maple shaft thats 13mm and 4oz. That is an accurate description. You have to be very deliberate with a Z.cool, I'm currently shooting with a Z3 for about a year and i love the deflection and firm hit, but it occasionally feels a little unwieldy hitting long stop shots or long draw shots. I have a 20 something year old 314 which I'm not in love with. I just unpacked a new vantage and shot with it for a bit. The deflection is pretty low and it seems to be a pretty solid/straight hitting shaft for sure. So far I like it. It doesn't feel all that big to me but I kind of like a bit of a conical taper.I play with a Barnhart and prior to the Z3 i was using the standard maple shaft thats 13mm and 4oz. any noticeable difference in deflection between the 2? thats really my deciding factor. I want the largest diameter i can get while still having really low deflection.I have a 20 something year old 314 which I'm not in love with. I just unpacked a new vantage and shot with it for a bit. It seems maybe a little lower but I'm comparing to an old 314, the ones that had the longer ferrule etc. I don't have a lot of experience with the 314 3. If you want bigger and you aren't stuck on a long pro taper I don't think you'd be going wrong with a vantage.any noticeable difference in deflection between the 2? thats really my deciding factor. Predator claims the Vantage "has the lowest front-end mass of the spliced-shaft line-up."
I did the math once, if you're looking to decrease mass removing diameter from the outside is quite a bit more effective than drilling out area from the inside.likely relative to circumference. the z shaft has the lowest deflection iirc, but is also much thinner
Never played the Z, but the V felt far too "stiff" for my liking.you might want to try a 314 first. going from a Z to a V is a massive difference in hit/feel imo.
If that is your goal, the Vantage might just be what you are looking for.any noticeable difference in deflection between the 2? thats really my deciding factor. I want the largest diameter i can get while still having really low deflection.

I've spent another week with the Vantage. This morning I took out the 314 just to see if it all of sudden felt great, sometimes different is good for me. It didn't, and it definitely seemed to deflect more than the Vantage.any noticeable difference in deflection between the 2? thats really my deciding factor.
