I know this has had a slight discussion before but the 314-2 was still fairly new then...Now that the 314-2 has been out awhile, I would like to hear from those that have played with both and get your opinion...Please. I don't want to hear about the Z shaft...Only the 314 and 314-2...I would like to know which shaft you prefer and why.....I have only played with the 314 and no one has the 314-2 where I am so I can not try it....I was thinking of ordering a 314 but don't know which one to get.....All comments would be helpful....

I started playing with the 314-2 first and I've had a chance to hit 10-15 balls between two different 1st generation 314's since then. Immediately, compared to the 314-2, the older 314's both felt dead to me. Almost like that feeling of a cracked ferrule but without the sound. I know there are a few players, a good friend included, that still like their older 314's over the newer ones, but respectfully, I have no idea why.

My cuz has a predator with the 314 2 and he likes it, I myself was never crazy about the 314's, I can say the 314 2 is thicker than the previous 314's. To me the 314 2 and the Mezz WD700 play about the same, my Mezz shaft is slightly thinner and has a differnt taper I personaly like it better but Id play with the 314 2 anyday.

I've used a 314 for years. I just started playing with a 314-2 and I LOVE IT. Much better shaft. I've really been playing fantastic with it. A+ in my book.

Wow.... I can't believe that this topic didn't get a lot more response. There has to be some more folks out there who have tried both Shafts and can give us some 1st hand feedback.

All you need is my feedback.

Used the 314 for 7 years. Love it. Used the 314-2 for a month. Love it even more. Nuff' said.

Now - go buy one!

I've been playing with a 314 shaft for a few years now and I like it a lot, but after reading your opinion of the 314-2 it makes me want to give the 314-2 a try. I haven't tried the 314-2 and I wasn't planning on it since I like my 314 so much, but I may be missing something after reading this. Thanks for the post.

I have played with both, and while I think the 314-2 is an improvement over the 1st gen, the differences aren't huge. Unless there is a substantial savings, I would go with the 314-2. The new ferrule material stays looking nice, the deflection is slightly less, and the standard everest tip is much better than the lepro IMO. What SPINDOKTOR said about the 314-2 being thicker is false. The diameter is exactly the same, and my guess is that he was comparing to a 1st gen that had been sanded down over time. I have heard from a couple of repair men that the hollow part in the 314-2 is slightly larger than the 1st gen, but I don't know if that is true or not.
