314 received!

314

COF, let us know what you think of the 314 shaft. We all have opinions about them. Is it a Z shaft?

I'm playing with a 314 shaft on Predator's P2 cue. It's very nice, but I'm waiting for the Z to arrive! I recieved a 314 by a cue dealer order mistake.

The Z should arrive within a few days. Then I'll be able to compare the two famous shafts!

With your name being Predator, let me take a wild guess and tell you what the results will be up front...."Unbelievable and Fantastic"

Let me now tell you what the results will be from Predator haters....
"caca and poopoo"

Nothing ever gets settled, does it? ;)

I just got a 314 shaft I ordered for my Jacoby last week.

I love it. I didn't have to get 'used' to anything at all. On shots that I compensated for deflection, I just remember to compensate a little less. Everything is going into the pockets for me.

O.K., let me see if I have this straight...You have a Jacoby that you just love with a Predator shaft. Lunchmoney, on the Pechauer or Schon thread, has a Schon but hated the Predator that he bought for it. Yet, he now loves it with a Jacoby shaft, a shaft that I assume you don't like very much if you replaced it for a Predator. He also must not have liked the Schon shaft that much also since he replaced it with a Predator and a Jacoby. The only other possibility that I can see is, you can try his Schon on your Jacoby and it might be even better yet. You never know...and you never know what to believe when there are these kinds of twisted tales.

My shaft looked ridiculously cheap and played terribly. It had 5 growth rings total. It was stiff and hit way too hard for me to like.

BTW on the Jacoby shaft I had a moori hard, just like on my predator shaft. So it isn't the tips.

Plus the predator shaft also fits my sneaky pete by a custom cuemaker. The shaft supplied with his was sealed...I don't like cleaning it after every few games to keep it from getting sticky....

Compared to my previous cue, yes...the result would be "Unbelievable and Fantastic". But seriously, I don't believe there is such a thing like "the best cue". Besides, I can play with a house cue just as good/bad as with any other.

The reason I ordered the Z shaft is because I've tried friends old worn out cue which has a 12mm tip with a slightly canonical taper. Somehow I just feel more precise with that kind of equipment, have no idea why...must be in my head. Low deflection + 12mm = Z the logical chioce for me.

Of course there are people who will not like very light Predator shafts. I respect their opinion and preference, but nobody can say that this or that shaft is crap just because he doesn't like it.

Just my 2 cents

Exactly, a lot of people like to go to extremes when describing something which they have formed an opinion about. The words "incredible", "awesome", "best", and "perfect" often are used by those who have a positive opinion. The words "caca", "poopoo", "junk", and "terrible" are often used by those who have a negative opinion. This is does necessarily mean that what they are describing will be classified the exact same way by everyone else. All that it means is that they feel that way about it, period end of story. The next person may feel very differently. If we were all the same the world would just be way too boring of a place to live, wouldn't it? :D

Cof

My friend, you haven't posted what you think about the shaft. Come on dude. I haven't given my opinion of the Predator cues or shafts yet. I wanted to get your unbiased opinion. What do you think now? Truthfully.

Well, the reason why I have not is because I have yet to play with it! I will be playing with the new 314 tonight so maybe when I get home at around midnight EST I will post up some first impressions! :D

314 opinions

I shoot with a Richard Black basic 4-pointer butt, added a predator 314 shaft to it. Nice shooting cue, I can work with it, there is less deflection or squirt with it. 314 Totally sucks for masse or minor jump shots.

My former full-time playing cue is a Ray Schuler, with the next-to-longest tapered shaft I use for breaks, full-cue long jumps, masse, whatever. I also have the shortest and stiffest shaft with 3 distinct tapers with a small tip that I use for 3-cushion, this is why I love the Schuler cue... interchangeable multiple personalities in a 2B4S case.

Is the 314 all hype? No. Is it the greatest? No, and certainly not for all games. Can you get used to it and like it? Yes. Is it worth $150? Hmmmm. I thought so, but many with less of a budget would do better spending their money on the game elsewhere, because the player is ultimately responsible for every shot, and if your cue is what you think is holding your game back, you must be 95% of the way towards excellent pro status IMO.

Frankly, some lessons from a Jerry Briesath or others, several videos, a few books, quality time on the practice table assimilating all that knowledge would do more for your game than the predator shaft, but thats just my opinion, and I have done all those things. :D
