314 vs 314-2

My apologies if this is a question that has been answered over and over again but I can't seem to find it in the archives. Has anyone who has used a 314 switched to a 314-2 and found the benefits worth switching for? Thanks.

I haven't tried the new 314-2 shafts, but i'm so satisfied with my 314 shafts that I can't see trying something new hoping for an improvement. If I had a complaint with my 314 shafts i'd be willing to invest in a 314-2 to see if it was better.

I used to play with Z shaft changed to 314 and prefered that, then got new cue with it came the 314(2), to be honest the change isn't hugely noticeable but i do find using english alot easier with this shaft compared to the old one, but it has worked for me so much i bought another shaft straight after using it.
The price difference isn't that much really between the 2 and predator must of done something to the shaft to call it 2nd generation so if i were you i would get the newer one but if possible it may be better to try using them both if you know someone with each shaft and they let you hit with it.

The differences between 1st and 2nd gen predators are listed on their website. They are as follows- insert now set into a phenolic core rather than in the wood, shorter ferrule made of new harder material (also more scratch and stain resistant), everest tip now standard, new graphic. Everything else stayed the same. I don't use the standard tips, but IMO the everest is a better tip. The ferrule being shorter reduces front end mass minutely, which in theory further reduces deflection. In reality the differences are almost unoticeable. I don't care for the phenolic core at the joint myself. It feels softer than the phenolics I have dealt with before, and seems to deaden the feedback slightly.

I bolted a 314 on my stick about 5 years ago for a couple of weeks, and it shot incredibly well, after I got away from the game for a while, my job situation finally left me time to play, so I got a 314-2. It seems to have a slightly softer feel, and the ease of english for me is quite noticable. just my 0.02
