I'd love to go play in that tournament, but I just so happen to be getting married on April 23rd. I sort of think my fiancee would cause me bodily harm if I were to ask to push the wedding back a week. ;) If it turns out to be an annual thing, maybe I'll make it next year.

That's not going to work Jimmy. It's still gonna be your anniversary!

That's too bad Jimmy, hopefully the event will turn out to be an annual event but we have to wait and see how successful it is first.

Hey Sniper, this should be a good one. My guess is that many of Saskatoons finest players (i.e. not me) will be there, we'll see how they do ... possibly another opportunity for Fabian to beat Earl in the first round

In the press release I read :

" The last time that world class 9-ball players appeared in Calgary was the 2003 Western Canadian Open 9-Ball championships that were also held at the Olympic Oval. "

Wasn't the Western Canadian Open played at the hall that closed a year back ?

Dave

I remember that match between Earl and Fabian, Earl couldn't resist scratching in the side pocket off the break and it came back too haunt him.

The hall your referring too is Great White Billiards-the finest pool hall I've stepped foot in might I add. The Western Canadian Open was played both at Great White and the Olympic Oval simultaneously.

Oh yeah Dave, who all from Saskatoon is going? Fabian will obviously be there but which other players are making the trip over?

Apparently Fabian is in Regina now, and some say not playing very much (which I find hard to believe). I haven't seen him in Saskatoon for a while, and various people have their opinions as to why ... I haven't spoken with anyone specificly about this tournament, but I'd guess that Darryl Wauters, Quintin Doell, Joey Basaraba, and various Manitokens might make the trip. I wouldn't be suprised if Glen Cameron turns up, but I haven't seen him for a while. I'll let you know. Again, it should be a great tournament.

Fabian was a bit, um, 'difficult' when he got back from Calgary in '03. I was playing him a week or so after that event, and after he makes a difficult long slice up the long rail drawing the cueball back 3 rails to the other side, I comment 'nice shot'. He looks at me and says "it's one of my favorites, just ask Earl !". He is entertaining, especial when he's puffed up a bit :)

You gotta come to one of our tournaments at Pacific Ave., so you can have a new 'finest pool hall' now that the old one has closed :D
