3Cushion billiards videos 3week ad under youtube

Good find! btw, I got another few hours of lessons from Paul Frankel this weekend. It hurts being so terrible at 3c, yet so good at certain stroke and masse shots.

Welcome to Az fourm, Robert Raiford. Those videos Outstanding. Please post other here if you make anymore. Love them.

Rob, good to see you on AZ. You'll definitely be an asset. I got another 3hrs on the table with Paul Frankel again this weekend. I'm getting better...but I still suck. I'll make an awesome shot, then miss an easy one, often. So, I decided to stop trying so hard to put a ball in the corner, or otherwise leave myself a shot. (Just to see...) Then, I nailed a tough shot, leaving an even harder position. Paul said, "no shot." And I made the point there too, leaving Paul only to shake his head in disbelief. It's a good feeling. But, I left an easy shot after that and missed. Naturally. ;)

Thanks for the warm and encouraging welcome, Bob, I'm glad you enjoyed them! I'll keep you posted if I put up any more.

Btw, are there many players in VA? Is there actually a table locally, or do you have to do some serious driving just to have a chance to play? I know there are some dedicated folks out there who play this crazy game. :) (I know a guy who drives 3-1/2 hours each way from Key West just to play once a week on the closest table to his house.)

Ok Eric, repeat after me:

"Every shot is not a 10-rail masse shot... Every shot is not a 10-rail masse shot... It's ok to make a natural with running english from time to time..." ;)

Seriously though, Ira was right: there's just gonna be alot of missing. This sorry fact only gets marginally better as you progress. To put this in perspective: averaging 1.0 means you're only making 1/2 of your shots...consistently averaging 2.0 (almost unthinkable except for the inhuman) means you're still missing 1 out of every 3 shots! Fortunately, the awesome ones we occasionally pull off can more than make up for any of those easily forgotten...err, what were they? Oh right: misses.

Congratulations - it's tough to get Paul to shake his head in disbelief. If there's a deck of cards anywhere around (and with Paul there always is) it's usually he who is causing the heads to shake... Btw, are you sure he isn't just making the scoring ball temporarily disappear on the easy ones?

QMaster Billiard in Virginia Beach, VA, have one Gabriels table, that he installed about a year ago. Before that you have to drive 90 min. to Richmond, Va, to Side Pocket with a Kim and an old Brunswick.

Every shot is not a 10 rail masse.

It'll sink in sooner or later.

When I play Paul, I tell him what my shot options are, that I see. He tells me which is the best. About a third of the time he looks at me like an idiot and says "this is a hanger..." and all I would have to do is... My artistic background just has me looking for the hardest shot and it's work sorting through those ideas to find the easy one. But, like I said, I'm getting better.

I have the same problem with Pool. It takes me an hour at least to tone the stroke down to start pocketing balls and getting position with less than 2 or 3 rails.
This is why I suggested you practice 1 Rail. Sounds boring? Yep, But not if all shots MUST be 1 Rail. Try it for 15 or 20 minutes at a time. I assure you it'll be revealing.

The 2 main reasons for missing shots is
1) Bad shot selection.
2) Missing the Carom/Missing the second rail. (1 Rail sharpens this up)

The shot is done after the second rail.

Eric, When your have problems with masse what do you do? When you get ready for competition how do you prepare? I'd suspect you don't start with 10 rail masse shots but warm up to that.
