hey guys, i'm thinking about picking one these up and i wanted to ask some opinions about them first. in the old threads there was mention of problems with the zippers which seem to have been addressed. i was wondering if anyone got any from the new batch and noticed any other problems. also, does anyone have any measurements of the 4x8? i'm particularly interested in how wide and thick it is. the old threads show how big it is relative to the 3x4 but it's hard to tell how big either of them are just from the pics alone since there's nothing in the background to compare them to. if the 4x8 is larger than what i have in mind i might get the 3x4 instead so any insight into this would be appreciated.

My wave case

I have one of the one's where the zipper pullers keep falling off ,, they sent me new pullers but they still keep comeing off.. They are supposed to send me a new model but eveytime I call they didn't come in yet.. I dont know Im going to contact them soon ,, they seem to have good customer service ,, but Im still waiting to see a new case ,,,I will post if they make good ,<< ED
 
yea i read your thread when i was looking them up. i thought the problem was solved, didnt know u were getting a new one. i like the way the interiors look so im very interested in getting one but i wanna figure out the size of a 4x8 first before i make a final decision.
 
The way they told me is they changed the zipper design and it's all taken care of now. But like I said they were supposed to get new ones in and replace mine with a new model for all my aggravation, cause the replacement pullers they sent out fall off as well. I know carry extra paper clips when I use that case cause I got sick of not being able to open it or fighting to get it open.. Great case other wise:rolleyes:,, no really it's ok except for the pullers. Im supposed to be getting the new 4x8 brown and tan, but I dont think they got them yet ??? Your thread reminds me Im going to call tomorrow ... thanks ED

Do give them a call. I can't apologize enough for the zipper head issues. You'd think that a factory which make hundreds of thousands of bags a year would not ever have zipper issues. So I didn't think that this was something I needed to watch out for. Especially after I harped on things like this in the pre-production meetings.

But - it's just another lesson learned - got to take care of EVERY DETAIL or get bitten in the butt by them.

So now the new zippers are KEE brand. We spent two months gathering zippers and zipper heads from various manufacturers and I am convinced that the KEE brand is the best in the world, even better than YKK which is a far larger company and who is a close second.

I don't anticipate problems with the KEE zippers. We really put them through the paces and tried to break them. I honestly feel that if these break then it will take extraordinary force. I hope I didn't just jinx them by saying that. :-)

One thing about the new zippers is that they have a mechanism inside them to stop them from opening on their own. The user must pull the tab to get the zipper head to move in the open position. This also acts as a shock absorber to provide a moment's cushion when the tab is pulled. This essentially relieves tension on the metal parts which adds to the overall relative strength of the part.

The zipper heads are also CLOSED meaning that the zipper pulls cannot detach from the zipper head.

And the zipper search is what has led to the delay in production of the new batch of Sterling cases. But the production IS flowing now and your replacement case should be in stock any day now.

Thanks alot John for your input on this, when I did report my problem, they were very attentive to it, they assured me it will be taken care of, which is a big plus. I know I like doing buisness with a company like that and it just makes everyone see that their customer sevice is great, at least they have been so far. I should be able to give a call in the afternoon. But one thing the cases are very well built and secure's butts and shafts in place very well. I really was going to use this case as just a bar league case and thats all. But I like it as much as my case's I paid hundreds of dollars more for,, well thanks <<ED
 
ok so does cuesight have them yet or are the ones on the site still the old version? i dont want to put an order in and end up with the one arrowcrusher has. i know they'll take care of it if the problem comes up but i dont wanna be shipping the case back and forth since im in canada and the shipping can get expensive.

FYI.. I just looked at the Cuesight link and the ad says the case has a YKK zipper. Not ball-busting here... just FYI so appropriate changes can be made.
 
I called cuesight today, good news and bad news!! The new models came in , but not the tan and brown 4x8 that I need , so I have to wait till they find out when they are comeing or getting shipped in. But if you are interested in one of the other colors they have them in stock. But I would make sure I ask when you order that it is a new model with new zippers. I was assured that I will be taken care of they made me aware of that it was just they shipped every other model except the one I need :rolleyes:,That figures ,, but like I said they are a decent case for the money, no doubt about it...Hope this helps you, call them and order before they are all gone , cause I heard they are a great seller ,,,,ED
