What is the difference with a piloted joint and the regular style. Does it change the feel. For example I have a Schon and it has the piloted joint. My predator shaft does not have that pilot. Would there be a big difference in feel if my predator had the piloted joint?

5/16x14 pilot

Most people would agree that a Time Scruggs, Jim Buss or Schon with a nice piloted joint will hit firmer than a cue with a 5/16x14 joint w/o a pilot. it tightens the joint.

If the wood portion of the shaft pilot doesn't very tightly squeeze fit into the joint hole, it is completely meaningless and won't change anything at all.

Sorry I do not understand what that means... Can you explain it a little better?
