Good morning Gents,

Im making a set of JPs but need to get hold of a 5/16x14 tap. I really cant justify $40 from Atlas just to make myself a single set to match my case. Looking for a used one to buy. Heh, I'll even rent it from you =)

Made my own case. Wanted to make my own Mesquite JPs to match.

Regards,
~Roy

Go to Travers Tools and look up their taps. They have a regular 5/16-14 tap.
It is too short to install a regular joint pin, but will be fine for making joint protectors. It only cost several dollars.

Spend the $40 and forget the hassle. You'll find a few cheap ones, but like Chris said, they aren't long enough.

Roy...... this is the answer right here, ESPECIALLY if you are only doing some j/p's. For what it would cost you to ship a borrowed one both ways, you could buy one from Travers and have your own to keep.

Afternoon Gents =)

Thank you for the comments and PMs. I will buy one from Travers and I really appreciate the direction to go.

bdcues, Thank you Sir. However, the Violin case isn't the one I am wanting to make the JPs for. I just finished this one last night. Not trying to sell it, just working stuff out ;) pic follows...

o Distressed Buffalo w/ Hair On Texas Longhorn (Brindle)
o Infantry Blue Interior w/ padded Tubes
o Nickel Trim w/ Hand Saddle Stitching
o Mesquite Baseplate

I actually could not find Mesquite local or anywhere close to me, so I bought a log of it from Arizona. My wife could not believe the mailman delivered a Log to me <grin.> I really wanted the Mesquite to finish it off and thought matching JPs would be the way to go. Im very happy with how it turned out.

I appreciate all the help fellas
