Here is some interesting info for the next tournament on October 18, 2009:

I am currently looking to name my tournament. I’ve had some GREAT suggestions but keep them rolling in. Currently, I’m offering FREE ENTRY to my next tournament if I use the name you give me. Your name will also be listed on my Web site
(currently under construction). Any in particular you would like to see on the site? Suggestions are more than welcome.

I am now trying to link the name of the tournament to my current logo, a Scorpion with a 9 ball in its tail.

Have you heard of the “Referral program”???

If you refer two NEW players who play in my tournament, you get a $5 discount!
If you refer 4, you get a $10 discount. Note: Minimum referral is two

Oh I can’t forget........if you’re traveling from outside RI, e.g., MA, CT, you receive a $5 discount because of today’s economy for the NEXT tournament .
(If you are new, you will need to bring a driver’s license with you-----no exceptions).

**Payouts based on 64 players
***Pre-registration is required for 1st time Players to a Bo's Tournament***

Are you going to be attending? Care to share your email addy for updates on future tournament?

Have you thought about possibly making this a traveling tour? Or is your plan to play your tour at Bo's exclusively?

I just thought it would get more exposure if you involved Snookers & other places.

regards,
Steve K. in Fall River

ps - I really enjoyed your first tournament. It was well run & great to see lots of new faces. It didn't hurt to win it... :)

Thank you so much, Steve!!!!

I appreciate the input. Yes, I believe I will be traveling soon. Do you think that two tournaments a month would be too much????? One traveling and one at Bo's. I was also thinking Willabys (sp?) in Fall River (I need to check it out soon). How many tables? How are the tables? You are from Fall River right?

G

Two per month seems a lot for anyone to handle, especially for the host. I would do my best to spread the word. It would be nice for the travel tour since you get to incorporate different players depending on the location.

Willaby's has about 12-14 tables & is located in Swansea on Rte.6 (off 195, Swansea Mall exit). Haven't been there in awhile so I can't recall for sure. The gentleman you wish to speak to is Bruce. I'm sure he would welcome this opportunity.

Also, Westgate in Brockton might be interested, they have 15 tables. I can contact Teddy about availability.

A friend of mine plays at Willaby's weekly and said they do not have food, so I don't think I'd do it. Aside from that, a full field will require 32 tables.

Let's see how this tournament goes and maybe I will try Snookers next (or in the near future). Do you know who I'd need to speak with? I thought it was Noah. Are you a regular there?

I agree: In order to get new players to a tour (especially in the beginning is basically a necessity). Then you can choose to use your favorite Billiard Parlor 50% of the time :) and travel the rest. I might try the one in Uxbridge (sp?) MA. Have you been there?

Back in NY, it was VERY easy to recruit players and a $100 buy-in was pennys for the boys. RI is very different.

Thanks,
G

Person you need to speak to at Snookers is Steven Goulding (Owner), no disrespect to Noah. He is one of the biggest supporters of billiards in this area I know of. I don't know how full his plate is, but would likely be receptive to anything that would draw more players to billiards.

Same goes for Green Room in Uxbridge. I don't know anyone there but Liz Taylor or Bonnie Saritelli might direct you to proper channels.

Another place might be a bit out of the way, it's called The Fan Club in Wareham, MA. It's located near Cape Cod, long drive for some southern RI players. Glenn (owner) would be very happy to hear of a new tour.

Uxbridge

the Green Room in Uxbridge has about 10 9 footers that have been refelted. A few 8 footers and a bar box. I live 10 min away:smile:
The owners name is Rick 508-278-0188.

Gloria, I got some info for you on couple of pool halls I highly recommend.

Westgate Lanes - Brockton, MA
They have 23 Brunswick Gold Crown tables.
The person to contact is: Harry Minassian Jr.
Phone number is: (508)583-1297 or (508)583-1299
Or you can email him at: info@westgatelanes.com. I believe he reads that email daily.
Nice place with excellent food, bowling & karaoki. They re-felted the tables about 2-months ago.

Accu Billiards - New Bedford, MA
They have over 20-Gold Crown tables.
The person to contact is: Bill Duggan
Phone: (508) 998-7516
It's a bit off the beaten path, located on the north end of New Bedford. My understanding is that they have excellent tables, tons of parking.

regards,
sk

Mr. SK

Thank you. Gonna print that info and see if it's something people are interested in. Do you know many people who'd attend? I'd love an A Players' tourny at some point. What do you think??
