It’s been 14 years since Tennessee’s Zach Wilson recorded his first cash payout with us here at AZBilliards. It turned out to be his best recorded earnings year at the tables back then, with three cash finishes. Until this past weekend, (Sat., May 13), he’d cashed only three times since, once per year in ‘10, ’14 and ’21, the last of which was a 4th place finish on the PremierBilliards.com’s Q City 9-Ball Tour. Such sporadic competition at the tables does not usually lend itself to success when he (or anyone else with similar attendance habits) decides to enter a tournament, especially if the field is populated by people who compete more regularly. Wilson broke through to win his first regional tour event this past weekend and in the finals, downed an opponent, Thomas Sansone, who’s cashed in more events on the tour this year than Wilson has in the past four. The $250-added event drew 18 entrants to Breaker’s Billiards in Mosheim, TN.
