On a side note. Mike maybe next time you can suggest to the pool room owner to maintain his/her tables. Nothing like driving hours to play in YOUR PRESTIGIOUS VIKING TOUR to witness poorly maintained equiptment. Such a nice pool room to have tables that should have been recovered 8 months ago.
Some pool room owners are more concerned with making a $ than they are keeping up the equipment. It helps if the room owner is also a player then he knows what a pool player needs instead what's selling best at the bar!

If room owners had to depend on pool players to make a profitt, there would be no pool rooms anywhere! The bar, kitchen, and league bangers are what keeps these places open so I can go play.

Mike,
Hows Richey doing in the winners side?

I play at Cues all the time and the tables were recently recovered, maybe not a month ago but definitely within the last 6 months. They do get a lot of play, though all the leagues are kept to the 8 footers. I would say they are in better than average condition and I think that we just have a case of the whiners.

The total payouts for the Open Division are:
There were 5 Free entrys given to non-Pro ladies.

1st --$1,710
2nd --$1,100
3rd --$750
4th --$450
5th --$250
6th --$250
7th--$100
8th --$100
9th to 12th--$80 each
13th to 16th--$60 each

The total payouts for the Amateur Division are:

1st--$970
2nd--$650
3rd--$450
4th--$300
5/6--$200 each
7/8--$100 each

Total payouts this weekend are $8,220.00

THIS IS SO SAD THAT THESE PLAYERS (TOP) ARE ALL DISPLAYING THEIR TALENTS FOR A VERY SAD 1ST PLACE OF $740.00.
PLAYERS IF YOU SHOW UP AT SMALL TIME EVENTS AND YOU BEARLY BREAK EVEN IF YOU WIN IT YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELVES>

not quite sure why you chose my post to tag onto, but it might be helpful if you find out accurate information before you bash events (as you can see from the post from Mike Janis above, first was not $740). i am not in any way affiliated with Viking or the tour director, but was interested in the outcomes of the tour, thus the bump. the unfortunate reality is that pool players have to take that risk because there are not enough high paying tournaments out there to survive. so, instead of posting negative thoughts about tours, why not take an active part and attempt to make the game self sustaining or support one of the regional tours as a sponsor, etc. - at least the tours are making an effort to provide $$$ for the players to do what they love. the game is a passion.

Cuechick......Honestly I play in these type of tournaments for the experience. Winning and losing is just a side note. As for your locals, I talked to many of them and they were in agreement with the shoddy playing conditions. Two locals even stated that the tables were in such poor condition that the monkey that recovered them had to re- tighten the cloth, but only did tables 1 through 8. All my matches were on tables 9 through 16.

Sorry Mike for thrashing your thread. I truly know you put on a great tournament. Your tournaments alway run smoothly and always have great players.

good job!

close, you are only 1k off on first place money:cool: way to go! keep up the bogus info!

dimes33-----posted were tournament payout plus calcutta combined-----makes it look more impressive.

oh i didnt think they would post calcutta info:eek: either way i think thats a strong payout for what 30 or 35 entry? i guess people think entry fees should be $5 and 1st place should pay 10k.

If the pool room gave away free food and pool you people would still complain...It cost's about 300 per table to recover them and if you have 20 tables that can get expensive..

Hey Snap,
Playing on those tables is whole another story, and I apologize for the whiner remark. Those tables are used mostly by the bangers and do not get the attention they deserve. Personally, I hate having to play on them, which happens on occasion, when they have a big turn out for an event.
The last time I played at Cues was two weeks ago, for a Ladies event and we only used the main 8.
I do think the huge amount of traffic Cues gets, puts more than normal wear on the equipment. I will add the last big tournament they had there, they did not use enough tables and I waited over 5 hours to play my 2nd match. I would much rather have just play on any available table, than wait that long.
As my Great Great Aunt; Cuechickery~aria use to say, "It's always something!"
;)

if you include the calcutta into the payouts, our monthly $1000.00 added 9-ball tourney averages paying out right at $2000 for first place each month and $1100 for second. www.theholethang.com
