In a "This Week in Weird" news article, there was an abundance of interesting happenings, to include a lady who, when startled by a police officer in her home, pulled out what she thought was a gun, but it turned out to be a -- ahem -- clear sex toy. She pointed it at the officer trying to protect herself. I guess you'll have to read the article to know the outcome. :o

But what piqued my interst was the pool-related portion of things people do when bored while drinking. There's a new game in town called Knokkers.

Since regular bowling balls can't handle the abuse of being knocked against each other regularly, entrepreneur (and cousin of the game's inventor) Sam Sparks created new polyurethane Knokker balls that could handle the higher stress. The game is played just like billiards, with the notable exception of learning to get out of the way of the balls once they're in motion. Sparks has plans to take the unique sport national, hoping to install 1,000 new tables in the next decade.

Kick-starting a new entertainment business in the middle of a difficult economy? You could say it takes a lot of ... well, let's just say courage.

It seems like this game would take up a lot of real estate in any establishment, but, hey, if it catches on, well, you heard it here first. :grin-square:

Read more about Knokkers and the sex toy assault here: The Week in Weird.

In most cases, climbing on the pool table marks the end of a billiards game. In Knokkers, that's how the game begins. The new game mixes the strategy of pool with the scale of bowling.

"Knokkers" does sound like a vulgar term referring to a lady's body part, but it is also a nickname for every pool player's enemy. It seems like they could have picked out a better name for this game.

Knokkers doesn’t use a cue, but it has all the balls of regular 8-ball pool, but they are the size and weight of six-pound bowling balls. The “table” that you see here is made for the ground, and is about four times larger in area.

As said before, the only cue here is the player, and you can pick up and move the cue ball. Of course, the player cannot move his or her feet once the ball has been touched.

It is designed by Steve Wienecke, a former semi-pro football player and cage fighter, and this was built in the athlete’s backyard in Fredericktown, Missouri with railroad ties, gravel, and concrete.

Well, it does look like it could be good exercise, but I'm still marveling at how much room this game would take in a business.

What happens when they spill that first beer and have to put new felt on the table?!

They should have at least made the felt green. Sheesh!

I wonder how tight those pockets are. I'd love to see Corey dominate this break shot. LOL

Here's a Youtube video clip of Knokkers, laced with a lot of ladies in short skirts, of course. I guess this attracts the masses. I guess sex sells.

The only thing about this video I like is the music, even if it is the favorite song of my ex. :grin-square:

See the Youtube here: It's not about bowling, it's not pool. It's Knokkers.
