Recently someone posted a poll asking for votes on their favorite game. I enjoy 7-ball and snooker the most. My version of 7-ball rules were slightly flawed, and the corrections from WoodyJ led me to think of a new game that combines the elements of 7-ball and snooker, as well as my new strange obsession to make a game that uses two cue balls:
TWO PLAYER GAME
Object of game: Run out in rotation by alternating between sinking object ball and opponents cue ball.
1. Two cue balls, and 7 object balls (1-7)
2. Similar rules to 9 ball. Ball in hand on all fouls.
3. Each player is assigned a cue ball for the match. They may only hit their own cue ball or it is a foul.
4. All seven object balls plus the opponent's cue ball are racked in a 9-ball diamond. One ball on the foot spot, opponent's cue ball in the center, and a void on the bottom tip of the rack where the 9th ball would normally be.
5. Normal breaking rules. Sinking the opponent's cue ball on the break is a win.
6. At the beginning of each player's turn, they must make a legal shot upon the lowest numbered object ball. If they sink it, their next shot must be upon the opponents cue ball. If they sink it, the opponent's cue ball is spotted and they must make a legal shot upon the next object ball. Turn passes on failure to pocket a ball after a legal hit.
7. The first player to clear the table wins.
8. Cue balls are always spotted on the center spot of the table.
9. Cue ball is spotted in center of table on a scratch. Ball in hand for the other player.
10. Hitting a numbered ball when the object ball is the opponents cue ball is a foul. Hitting the opponent's cue ball when the object ball is a numbered ball is a foul (like in snooker).
11. If the 7 has been potted, then the first person to legally pot the opponents cue ball wins. The opponents cue ball is still treated as an object ball, i.e. contact + pocket or contact with rail rules still apply. Ball in hand on foul.
So basically, this is a rotation game with the added elements of having to always play for position between the colored balls and the opponents cue ball (which is spotted in the center of the table). I own a black cue ball, but the eight ball can be used instead. Because of this, it probably can't be played on a closed bar box.
