76th World 14.1 TV SCHEDULE Day 1-3! Hohmann,Schmidt,Appleton,Immonen,Shaw,Orcullo

At times 14.1 is almost as boring to watch as one pocket. The break shots are interesting but the middle part of each rack can be boring

Actually the way Earl has had to get out these racks, it hasn't been very boring :) (IMO)

Earl makes a very tough cut in side pocket. Skids on 10 later. They called foul on him for catching cue on way to scratch. 16 point foul called. Now 200-182 mika

Bit extreme to call 16 point foul for catching ball on obvious scratch. But I guess those are the rules

not extreme - well known rule in 14.1 for a couple of reason - earl messed up and took the penalty

I understand intentionally fouling- but the foul already happened in terms of the scratch into the side. I don't get it- how can you foul when you already fouled?

"A player may not catch, touch or in any way interfere with a ball as it travels toward a pocket or the rack area on a shot (to include catching a ball as it enters a pocket by having a hand in the ball as it enters a pocket by having a hand in the pocket). Doing so is a special "deliberate foul" and is penalized one point for the foul and an additional 15 point penalty, for a total of 16 points. The incoming player then has choice of (1) accepting the table in position with the cue ball in hand behind the head string, or (2) having all 15 balls re-racked and requiring the offending player to shoot under the requirements of the opening break" BCA rules wording

Hope that helps - murkily ha

What's the point of that rule? Specifically catching a ball that is scratching. What's the harm?
