8 ball 2nd ball break

I have focussed my breaking practice on the 2nd ball break. When I am coordinated & I feel my ki energy released 3-4 balls go in on the break. The rail bridge permits me to raise my body & still retain CB control.

I'm also doing drills in which I hit the CB alone or hit it into a single ball placed in the 2nd ball spot. Are these fruitful? Are there other drills?

When the 8 ball does not significantly move, 0-1 balls go in on the break. Can I assume that when the 8 ball does not significantly move that my hit lacked accuracy?

Racking secrets is a great book. The biggest problem I have with the second ball break, is maybe 3/10, the ball pops up and off the table. I have to take off probably 20% of my speed to prevent it. I usually take a spot halfway between the spot and the rail on the left side, and focus my aim on the center of the 8 ball. This gives me a slight offcenter hit on the front ball which seems to get a lot of movement and usually results in at least 1-2 dropping. The cue ball might pop back a little but it will typically die just off center of table.
