The gospel of staying down on regular shots appears to be ubiquitous & quite functional.

However, Colin's raising up as he thrusts himself into his power break seems to be the technique of many pros on YOUTUBE. However, a significant minority appear to stay down.

I have practiced both & have not achieved significantly different results to adopt one over the other. I have overcome miscues & scratching & my CB generally lands in the center of the table & leaves me with good position.

However, the percentage of breaks resulting in potted balls is not significantly different with one technique over the other.

Raise up and dig that tip right into the felt. I've been working on different break techniques and that has been by far the best for me.
