8-Ball League Scoring Question

Just sayin...

If the rules of the ball counting system accounts for that ball as legally pocketed, then it's a flaw and it's dumb. That's the point...

Maybe so, but we aren't talking about right or wrong here. We are talking about the BCA rules and how to apply them to the situation. :)

I had this exact situation occur last Monday night in league. Unfortunately I was the one who made the shot and kicked out a trouble ball but the trouble ball kicked into the 8 at just the right angle it sent the 8 ball into the side pocket. We had a rule in our rulebook which covered it and I lost 10-0. That's the only time in all my years of playin that I could remember that happening to me. It sucked. At least I made up for it in the next 2 games by beating my opponent 10-2, and 10-0. :)

That definitely sucks! Imagine how bad you would have killed those guys if that roll had not cost you that game! :D :D

Help me out here (I am being sincere). What page in the BCA rule book did you find the ruling?

I can't find anything other than making the 8 out of turn is loss of game, but not considered a cue ball foul.

We have our own set of rules which is mostly taken right out of the BCA rules but there are a few slight differences. We have our own rules printed out.

Well

the last time I knew, the BCA uses a 15 point system for 8 ball scoring, the VNEA uses a 10 point system. I don't know what the ACS uses.

It is all balls down, except the option to spot the 8, if made on the break or making the 8 and scratching, then it is spotted, and opponent has ball in hand according to current BCA rules.

It was regulated this way because of coin-op machines (Bar tables).

The original question of the thread, the answer would be 10-1, although I question the 10 point scoring he indicated for a BCA league.

The BCA Scoring system is 10 points for the win, and up to 7 points for a loss. All depends on how many balls your opponent made.

ACS is identical to the BCA in regard to scoring and almost if not all the rules.

Regarding the 8 ball. If you scratch on the 8, but fail to pocket the 8...it's ball in hand. If you pocket that 8 and scratch, it's loss of game. If you pocket the 8 in the wrong hole, it's loss of game.

I can't find all the cursing that follows anywhere in the rules, but I am sure they are there since everyone seems to know just what to say when any of the above happens! :D
