Have you ever practiced by throwing the balls out (16 including the cue ball) OR breaking a rack, and tried to run highs or lows (your choice like you're playing 8 ball) THEN after the 8 getting position on the lowest numbered ball left and finishing with rotation?

Been doing it for years and just wanted to see if anyone else does it.

Not unlike Allen Hopkins Q Skills Challenge, where you shoot the first 10 balls as in straight pool (1 point each) and then the last 5 in rotation (2 points each).

Q Skills is a great form of practice. I use it without the competitive scoring rules. I simply open break the balls, run the first ten while planning the rotation finish. Lots of thinking and execution required.

For years. Decades even.

We've been playing Rotation 8-Ball for decades, plus Last Pocket & even 1-15 Alabama thrown in. This game isn't exactly the practice game you mentioned, but Rotation 8-Ball is a great game.

We call it "Outside In or Inside Out"....

I probably would if I could run 8 balls without missing. :frown:

Yep, do this every time I play right after hitting 30-45 balls really hard straight into pockets to loosen up. Good warm up routine.
