8-ball rule question

In 8-ball if someone starts shooting the wrong balls what is the rule? How about if the opponent doesn't call it until the 3rd or 4th wrong ball? Don't give me APA rules because they are pretty clear as what happens. I can't find it in the BCA rule book. Jake

I can't seem to find anything in the BCA book I understand you can have them shoot all your stripes/solids and call a foul but you can't call a foul after they pot the 8 ball.

If you have honor, you stop him, inform him of his foul and begin play at that point with cue ball in hand. If you are a slime bucket, you wait till he's shooting the 8, then you jump up and take over, once he has all of this balls out of your way. A legal way to win, if you can sleep at night after you screw the guy and I have seen people do this.

The old rules used to be...if you shoot the wrong group of balls and finally shoot the eight ball ...you get credit for the win...
if either player notices the wrongdoing at any time BEFORE the eight goes in...the shooter loses his turn and the opponent has ball in hand on the proper balls.

I agree with this statement, I totally believe in practicing good sportsmanship, I'd rather lose than rule f**K somebody to win.

Yes totally I will tell the person if I think he's eyeing one of my balls, most of the times it has happened to me I've shot the QB from where it was, I think from being guilty of not paying attention.

I'm not sure officially, but if i'm running the tournament, once player b is allowed to shoot ball #2 in it is no longer a foul as the foul must be called immediately after it happens. You should pay attention to your match. sam

As I once did, you can email the BCA for a ruling on your question. The BCA responded to my rules question within 48 hours.

What if someone broke and made all balls except the 8-ball?
What happens???

Hopefully it would be on video and you would get into the Guiness Book of Records. Or in Ripley's believe it or not.

You might claim that the first ball in the return rack is your choice.

If choice is determined after the break by making a ball then the only option would be to rerack and next time be careful not to make so many balls.

But, isn't shooting ball #2 a foul too? Or does the player get to switch his choice after mistakenly making the wrong ball?

I guess I will have to go to the BCA website and send the question to them.

Jake
