8 Ball Rule Question

I was watching an 8 ball tournament on YT. The leader was on the 8 ball and rattled the called pocket. The opponent grabbed ball in hand instead of just loss of turn.

Is this standard rules? If so, I could not specifically find it via WPA.

Unless a scratch or foul happened, ball stays where it stops moving.
