You guys are right, I spoke before I thought

actually that 5 ball really appears like the CB. I also mistook it for the CB at first. glad, I looked at it again.

You have just pocked a solid ball on the break. In the current rule the table is open and you can choose either solids or stripes to continue.

1, Which would you choose?
2, What are the potential problems and how do you solve them?
3, Is it a good idea to go for a run-out here?

CueTable Help

We will post a video of someone playing this layout in a few days. Let's see if you have any good idea solving the puzzle :)

i would shoot 14 go three rails for the 15. after that its fairly simple

Stripes look OK. I think I would be happy enough about the 15 to be confident in leaving it until last.
12 in corner, holding for the 14
14 in centre, using 4 to hold the white for the 13.
13 in centre leaving angle on the 11 to come across to the middle of the table.
Depending on the exact position, go 9,10 or 10,9. The aim is to be able to come off the end rail to get on the 15 (the 6 ball is a good target to try to carom gently into for the 15 in the bottom corner). If you mess up planned route to the 15, you should have options: There are 3 corner bags it will go into, and you also have the 2 rail approach route.

Solids also look just about do-able, but much toughter. Difficult to tell without having a table in front of me, but it looks as if you could play the 7 with strong inside english to get shape on the 4 (I assume that the 4 ball can see most of the corner pocket).
Then stun across for the 3, bumping the 6 into the 15 and drawing back a little off the 3/6 for the 5 into the top right.
Next the 2, followed by 6 into the same corner (15 should no longer be blocking it) and 8 ball anyplace you like. Accept rapturous applause and various items of underware thrown by female members of the audience.

Start with the 9 Ball, and shape the 15 using the 6-3 for stoppers or go the the side rail and play the 15 in the same corner pocket as you did the 9. It is a road map from there. In case you miss shape on the 15 you have the 13, 11 and 10 balls for insurance shots to get back on the 15

Just my 2 cents.

Video of Ralf Souquet playing the layout

Hi here is a video of German champion Ralf Souquet playing the rack, starting at 5:30 of the video.

Thanks to everyone for participating in the discussion. Please view the video as a "suggestion" rather than "the absolute answer". Afterall, pool in a fun game because different people can apply their own creativity.

We will put up some more WWYD (What would you do) Layouts in a few days!
