What is the best playing playing 8' table in the used market for $1500? I am not spending more money, so no Diamond options for me. Thanks

What does your local classified ads have to offer?
If it was me I would be looking for a used GC for about $500 and put the rest into moving and install.
Cloth and rails have really gone up in cost.
I guess it would depend on what your market has to offer?

I found an old GC 8', but it is in poor condition. I may still get it and refurbish it a little bit at a time.

olhausen if you want something that looks real nice in the room furniture wise. and can find one newish.

brunswick gold crown if in the garage.

My first choice would be a Brunswick Anniversary……second would be a Gold Crown.

Yeah, looking that way. My wife likes the hardwood style, as opposed to the industrial Formica... I did not know if the Olhausen shelf was deeper on some models. I may have to call them (as there are dozens of Olhausens used in my area. As I mentioned, I found an affordable GC III, but it is a total rebuild in a smokers home.

I appreciate the feedback! MAHA....

Gold crown all the way.

Playability is most important

olhausen has an okay shelf and easy side pockets. corners are cut wide so balls hit hard down the rail hitting the jaws can tend to rattle.
have to be more precise on them. other wise play well. for 1500 all set up not much is going to be better. you can not redo a whole table for that even if its free.

ive had one for years and balls do rattle, but so do they on a diamond and gold crown in stock condition not modified. just not as much

Olhausen with AccuFast cushions. The pockets have tough playing angles, but that's not terrible to address. In your budget (I assume that includes installation), Olhausen will be your best value.

There are too many Brunswick models out there to simply say that Brunswick is the way to go. Sure, there are some fine Brunswick models that would be a great playing table, and a great value, but there are also a lot of garbage models.. The Contender Series is a no-go, for what you are looking for.

Connelly are hit and miss... Most (at least in my experience) will require new cushions, but many of them are very nice tables.

Brands that you likely won't be happy with: Kasson, American Heritage, Spencer Marston, C.L. Bailey, Plank & Hide.

Sleeper brand that you would be lucky to find on the used market: Playcraft.

Olhausens do play consistent and the AccuFast rubber is long lasting. I tried a bunch before I bought a used Olhausen.

I would go with a used Peter Vitalie or Connelly, though, if the rubber was in good condition and the price was right. Some AMF models are excellent, but they are hit and miss.

Newer (4 years or less) American Heritage and Plank and Hides play well, too.

Where I live, it's impossible to get a Gold Crown 4 on your budget. And I've only seen a few GC 3's listed that low.
