I agree with everyone else. Design the room around the table. Get four spectator chairs instead of the couch. If your the player you seem to be you'll be happy in the long run. At a minimum the Pro 8 would be sufficient but, only if absolutely nessesary. I bought my house based on the fact that the basement had to accomodate a 9 footer. I have not regretted it once.
We had sorta the opposite problem... An overly-big and unused garage, in which we wanted a table. We have bench seats from an old van, some couches, a dedicated scoring/stats workstation, and a bunch of other crap. We decided to fill up the empty space with a 10-footer.
