FYI, I just posted a new video that demonstrates useful 9-ball-break “cheat codes" with racking and breaking strategy and tips. I also cover how to detect if somebody is attempting to cheat you and how to "read a rack" so you can take advantage of how racked balls are sitting. Check it out:

Content:
0:00 - Intro
0:30 - Side Break
1:49 - Wing Ball “L”
3:04 - CB Control
4:04 - 1-Ball Control
4:57 - 1 in the Side
5:31 - Golden Break
6:16 - Pattern Racking
8:01 - Cut Effects
8:29 - Gap Effects
9:49 - Tight Rack
10:52 - Good Strategy
13:17 - Wrap Up

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the knowledge, Great insights as usual. I spoke with Rafael Martinez when he lived in Houston and he told me that you have to use the cut break or play for the one ball in the side when the felt is new because the power break or as he called it ''popping break'' doesn't work as well. He said it was due to the fact that in tournaments the felt isn't broken in so the cue ball slides at contact and that's why the pro's cut break in tournaments but power break when gambling on worn in felt?

What has your experience shown?

The only time I've seen a need for the cut break is when you are required to break "from the box" or when the "9 is on the spot." FYI, the best breaks for all rules situations are covered in the videos and articles here:
