9 Ball push out Question

You've been had. It's not a foul if the CB touches any OB during a pushout.
Yea, you can contact any ball you want. Depending on how good of a player I am playing I sometimes push out in a way that I know they can make the shot as I know they cant run out so why not let them make 3-4 balls and then miss?
As far as I know and have been told, you can make any ball, contact any ball, or roll the cue ball where ever you want, exception is the nine ball gets spotted if you pocket that one which happens a lot when its a hanger. Nate.

Push out, roll out or two shot foul...boy do I miss it. Its been yrs since I played it but from what I can remember;

Well I actually made the one. I was trying to kick to leave a bank but I threw the cue ball a little too much and I cut the ball in off the rail. We didn't actually consider it a foul. One of the guys on the rail just said it. I thought maybe some rules it is and some it isn't.
You can hit/pocket any object ball on the table as long as it's a legal stroke and you don't scratch.
The only way to foul on a pushout is if you intentionally hit the cue ball with the wrong part of the cue, or if you scratch (CB goes off the table or into a pocket). If you strike the CB legally, and it stays on the table, then it's legal. If you make a ball, it stays down unless it's the 9 (or another money ball if there's more than one for some reason, like in some ring games or when someone's giving up weight).

You can also not hit anything. The only requirements are that you strike the cue ball legally and it remains on the table.
Any pocketed OBs, except the 9 ball, stay down.

Never played it that way. IIRC, if you did hit it and the ob hit a cushion, then it was considered a shot or a safe and not a push. Long as the ob did not hit a rail, incoming player had the option. I don't think this is what the op had in mind, though.
I'm only going by the fact that many people, many pro's see his books as the bibles of pool. If Phil C put in his book that there was a high percentage of games lost because of not pushing out, then he would encourage pushing out. Based off the statistics I read, he discourages it.

It was a rule at a tournament I played in recently that it was a foul to touch the lowest-numbered ball on the table, but the (supposedly?) 'world-standardized' BCA rules (I looked at the ones updated in '95) state that it is NOT a foul to contact (or pocket) the lowest-numbered ball.
p.s. just wanted it to be clear that the rule at the tourney was wrong
