9' Brunswick Sport King in CA: eBay - $400

For a $400 table. It looks like it needs some work on the legs, but the rails look presentable. Id use it in my basement. Dont think Id put it in the living room though, lol.

I found a Sport King one time in a senior home.
Alex from Shooters bought it and sold it.
The table was OK for a home use. The legs are kinda ugly but the frame and the Pennsyvania slates were ok.
Apparently Sport King tables were the choice of tables for our military bases back in the 40's-60's.

They were great tables came out in the late 50's I think. I'd rather have one of these than a Gold Crown myself. They had a few in my old pool hall. The slate was cut deep in the pockets though compared to tables today. They were the cheaper of the commercial tables with the Anniversiary being the main table Brunswick sold at the time. Brunswick made a table before the Sport King that was very similiar, I forget the name that was a little stouter.
At least that's the way I remember it. The worst thing about them is the side skirts things that are made out of some kind of pressed board that doesn't hold up very well.

When I was a wee tyke my grandfather bought one that had done 20 years service in a pool hall. My cousins and I grew up playing on it and it served us well. My uncle has it now and it's still a great playing, great looking table though it is nearly 50 years old. I believe he paid around 300 for it in the early 70's, so this seemed like a great deal to me, even if it's a little rough around the edges. If I was in CA I'd be buying this table. FWIW

I've played in a number of halls that used them as well.

I've played on 2 and I'd have to agree with you.

There is just something about the 40's & 50's Brunswick's. They play damn tough but fair.

PBat2751<---If it was in MA it would be mine! although it would be in storage.
