9 foot valley table? vs regular 7 foot.

The Valley bar box tables in the local pool halls in my town have larger pockets than the 9 ft. tables.
The Diamond 7 ft. tables do not have larger pockets and play tough according most persons I know.

Here are photos of the 9 ft. corner and side pockets and I found these to be even a little generous too.
The reducers makes the pockets tough & challenging but after removal, the pockets seem huge.

Can you take a measurement of how far the slate goes into the pockets? And also do these same measurements on a a valley? I tried measuring a valley but you would probably be able to measure better than I could.

Sure.....but the pool halls are still closed in my neck of the woods so it will be awhile.

You can see how tight the pockets are on the 9 ft. table in the photos. Personally, I’d
like the pockets a little smaller than that. It quickly distinguishes your skills and makes
you try harder. When you play on 9 ft tables with larger pockets, even 4.5” CP, the table
still plays hard. However, when contrasted with the pockets in the photos, it seems easy.

Every Valley I've played on and the endless others in the same rooms, all had 4 1/2" corners.

RKC has stated standard spec for Valley BBs is 4 1/2" corners.

I really don't understand where the myth started.
I think Valleys are on the big side of 4 1/2", even though there may be a ball in the jaws on a Valley one can usually get a second ball thru the gap but it wont work on a Diamond.

Valley tables are just fine when set up by competent mechanics and maintained properly, but when they age and get recovered by hacks they can be awful tables, especially when there are 150+ to choose from and it seems like you never get to play on the same table twice.
