A big Day for our Jewish Members

No Disconnect

I am not anti-semitic, so this is purely an objective question that I ask every year around this time.

Why are there no Hanukkah movies?

The vast majority of the Xmas stuff on TV is written by, directed by, produced by or stars Jews.... and yet the Hanukkah story seems to be a perfectly adaptable story for screen, so why no movies?

It's a disconnect for me, and I hate disconnects.

Is it purely capitalism at work or is there some chosen rule against it?

They did! Don't Mess with the Zohan! The Hebrew Hammer! Solomon and Sheba! These are just a few jewcentric films that can be viewed during the holiday period. Okay, maybe meet the Focker's Trilogy when it comes out later, but you get the drift. Happy Hannukah to all, especially Jay Helfert! Drink a toast, La'chaim!

Offensive and Inappropriate

Then we still celebrate Christmas as well, just without the tree.
It's the best of both worlds.

Actually with my shiksa girlfriend we will have a tree.
Please refrain from using the term shiksa. It is offensive and inappropriate. Happy Hannakuh and La'chaim!

AGREE with the shiksa comment - it is REALLY offensive. To jewish & non jewish girls!!

& oh gosh, the Hebrew Hammer. Also 8 Crazy Nights, the Adam Sandler hanukkah movie!

...the shiksa comment - it is REALLY offensive...

Relax with the getting all offended stuff. "Shiksa" is funny... just the sound of it alone is funny, like all that great Yiddish slang. (And I'm not Jewish:rolleyes:) Maybe growing up with those words gave all those wonderful Jewish comedians the edge in the funny business.
