I recently re-covered "my baby" with some new 860 HR. This was one of many tables that was used in the 2002 US Open 9 ball tournament. Purchased it from Diamond after the tournament for a reduced price.

Looks great!

I like the 'cuff' in the pocket. Is that a 'Diamond' thing, or just something you do?

Not really a "diamond" thing, just a nicer way to finish out the pocket. RKC has the patent

Beautiful!!

I'm building my own table and just finished adding the rabbett to the bottom of the rails for stapling the cloth. Your photo shows the rabbet has to extend around the corner of the rails also, which I think I would have forgotten had I not seen your photos.

For someone building their own table, this "Talk To A Mechanic" Forum is just the greatest. I have picked up so many ideas and gotten a lot of excellent information from all you experts.

Your table is absolutely beautiful and the way the pockets are finished is really something special. You can be very proud of your work.

Nice looking Diamond there Jack!! Practice up on those rail extensions so I can get my pockets a little tighter on my next recover. :D

Table looks great, I have 2 questions: it seems that there is excess bondo or something on the seams in the pic, did they have alot of chips or something? When I look at the glue it is nice and even on the sides but the bottom has alot more and in the corners it seems like it would be up in the play surface. If this is the std pattern how do you know if the cloth is glue free near the pocket underneath the cloth?

There was one area on the slate seam that was chipped a little and had to be filled over with bondo. It chipped a little when I seperated the slates for a little touch up on the leveling and so I could glue the slates. I scored the seam with my razor knife (it was previously finished with bondo only, no super glue) but it still chipped on me a little bit. Is there another trick to prevent chippage other than running a sharp blade over the seam??As far as the rest of the seam there was almost no bondo after I releveled and finished off the seams.

As far as the extra glue in the corners, it helps to hold the corner flaps tighter than the spray glue. There is little to none under the actual playing surface.
