I've not been ignoring the thread I've been trying to focus on improving my 14.1 while learning a repetoire of new shots from Byrnes complete book of pool shots.
I've managed a few runs of 20 and 21 now which at least means I'm running and getting into a rack to carry on the run. I know 20 is absolutely naff all but from what I have read and learned so far it has helped a bit and will make more sense as I play more.
Ratta sent me over some links and also got an old video of Mike Sigel teaching 14.1. This has been instrumental if I just want to load a certain section quickly while at the pool hall (yes I take my laptop sometimes...).
Key thing for me is to stop overcomplicating the shots. In 9ball I know what I need to do and once I make a plan I get down and just focus on potting the ball, knowing in my mind my body will obey most of the time and do what I've asked it to do. But i cannot put that same thought process in 14.1 yet as I am not used to everything yet.
Thanks for the advice so far guys
