A Joint Issue

I had a problem with the threads in the A Joint (Forearm Side) stripping when I was tightening it up after epoxying it.

My question is would I be safe filling the threaded area with epoxy and then retap it, or should I plug it and then retap it?

Thanks

Is it an insert? or wood joint?
If it is an insert you can get away with using a good 2 ton epoxy to hold the insert secure.
If it is just wood threads, my choice is plug it and retap it.
Hope this helps,
Jim

Would you be at peace knowing that only epoxy is holding that bolt?
No wood?
Thread a wood dowel there then drill/bore retap if it were me.

What kind of epoxy were you using? Sometimes if you're using two ton epoxy without any presure relief it blows out the threads.

I had pressure release. I was having trouble getting it to spin true after connecting it and tightened it up really snug. All looked good, so I glued it up and it stripped the threads. I'll just plug it and redo it.

Thanks for the advice

Tony, if it was a 3/8" connecting screw drill out the hole with a 3/8" drill then fill with bondo. The auto store will sell a version for fiberglass and wood. When it is dry drill and tap as if it where wood. This would be better than a ton of glue and easier than a plug.
