A Little Something On It's Way

Nice one Lisa!
I like those Micarta ferrules, i thought they were hard to get?

The material I have is not the old asbestos based phenolic. I have one real "yellow micarta" ferrule and am saving until I build myself that special cue (hopefully before I die). The hit is not the same I'm told but most people like it.

Congrats Lisa, I know how long you've waited for this cue. It can be said that you and I exist in some parellel cue universe; we both at one time possessed fancy skips, had to painfully let them go, and now both are awaiting the arrival of simpler cues...in my case az's own Bryan Fisher is assembling what I hope to be a monster player of a SP.

In any case, that cue of yours def looks like a keeper. Simple and elegant, that blue/white veneer in the butterfly really pops the brazilian rosewood. Do post better pictures when it arrives!

Thanks junk, Jimmy, Marcus, and Berny!! It looks even better in person, if that is possible..LoL.

Got to play with it a bit today...and yes, Marcus, I do love the feel of the yellow micarta ferrules...they are very nice indeed!!

I played with both this one and the bocote one I have, out of curioity more than anything else. This one is a bit heavier than the bocote one, when holding the two together...however, it does not feel heavier when playing with it. Both feel very 'relaxed' in the hands...natural. I would say that this one has a slightly crisper hit than the bocote one, but...the bocote one an LBM ferrule and this one has the yellow, and a fiber pad.

Once I got over the 'nervous, shooting with a new cue' thang...I was off and running with this one, finding it plays every bit as well as the bocote one does. The legendary Tucker consistency is definitely there in both cues. While each has it's own 'personality', you can tell that they are definitely related!! :D

Interestingly...out of the 3 Tuckers that I have had opportunity to play with now...my two, and runscott's fancy snakewood...the softest hitting one out of the 3 was the snakewood Tucker...and it has a SS joint...very surprising to me...and again, very, very nice. :)

Many, many thanks to Murray...who makes one helluva outstanding cue!! His attention to detail, fit, finish, and playability are right at the top! I know that his cues are rarer than hen's teeth...but if you ever see one available, I highly suggest you give it a try...I would truly be surprised if you were disappointed! :)

Thanks Roger!! Nice to see you posting again! Actually, this cue is not Brazilian...Murray hoards his 50yr old stuff for himself...LoL. ;) It is actually Bois de Rose, the same wood that was used in my fancy Skip. :)

BTW...a little birdy told me that the fancy Skip may be on it's way to Europe from Taiwan...yet another stop on it's world-wide tour. :D

Hey Curly!! How the heck are ya? Still lovin' the Allers?

I will sell a kidney or something before I sell this cue!! It just feels sooooo good while playin'...must be that 'slow southern style' of cuemaking that Murray does. :D And the veneers in the butterfly are so clean...no fuzzies at all. I really like the addition of the ring below the butterfly....when the cue is viewed from teh other side, it looks like a nice Hoppe-type satinwwod ring in the butt. The cue is just classy all the way around. :)

Thanks, gotgame! Actually, the joint is not ivory...but white phenolic, which I am quite happy with. :) But yes, it does very much look like ivory...and I had to look closely at it to make sure it wasn't...LoL. Murray's shaftwood is very good, and I am quite happy with them...as I really like a stiff playing cue. Really liking the yellow micarta ferrules as well. Everything on this cue works very well together...Murray certainly knows how to build a player's cue!!

Pat makes a very fine and good looking cue in his own right! And, it was partly because of his butterflies in his cues, that inspired me to request a butterfly in this one as well...after seeing only two other butterfly cues that Murray has done to date....both being quite nice, and certainly my cup o' tea. :D

The brother? I am a bit slow on the uptake today, Jazz...hurting all over, friggin bounce-back bugs!

BTW...those two cues look so darn good together, don't they?! :D Well, at least they both reside on the Left Coast...so that's cool! Perhaps someday they will get to have a little family reunion of sorts, if I can ever get down SF way! :) ...or you up Seattle way...LoL.
