we all have someone that sort of helps us in the early stages of this hobby that we all enjoy so much. i had a guy who retired here from this naval base that i work at a few years ago. he taught me alot about cues, and even put new tips on cues for me. he even coaxed me into buying one of Nubs Wagner's Nova Cues, which he called the best playing cue he ever hit with.
anyway, i am on the local paper website today, and i see his name in the obituary column, and i thought........"WHAT?" i didnt even know he was ill, but the gal i work next to says he had cancer. he was 58 years old.
even though i hardly saw him, and had little contact with him the last few years since he retired, it was still a blow. he was a good guy. at times he would perhaps exaggerate a little about things, but i still enjoyed talking with him. he was a very good player too.
