A New Pool game...? Yes... Look inside...

Good morning, afternoon or evening all!

I'm Jack, part of a team launching a NEW Pool game for American and English tables - and Snooker tables for a more "civil" game, shall we say... at least with no jump or Masse shots.

We are just awaiting some paperwork to be signed, all the dots and crosses etc, and then we can announce more as we prepare in advance for production but we're keen to build a little bit of excitement prior to this, and with crowdfunding via Kickstarter for those in certain regions of the world who can pre-order with some additional perks.

Our plan is to launch with 3 grades of ball, one for each table type, so 9 sets, with the aim of pro and amateur televised versions from 2026, requiring phenolic resin balls meeting WPA and WPBSA criteria.

So a tournament grade 95%+ phenolic resin, a league grade, perhaps 70% and a lesser grade for social players/settings - leisure centres, pubs, youth centres and so on where "quality" isn't the priority.

We went to Aramith/Saluc, they said "we're too busy". Ok, thanks guys!

We went to Dynaspheres, they said "minimum order of 1,500 sets per grade". Ouch, no thanks, adios.

What can I tell you? Well, we found a manufacturer over in China, top secret 🤫 that currently produce billiard balls using phenolic resin and without the silly high MOQ.

Super!

Can we produce our balls in line with Aramith and Dynaspheres pricing? Absolutely. And match the quality? Indeed we can.

The balls are not really designed any differently to others we've all seen, in fact, very simple, very familiar. No strange colours to try and be "different".

We designed and developed this game to fix an "issue" initially, later realising the scope this has to become a competitive cue sport. We have had some NDA's signed and provided the balls meet the criteria, you could see our balls on your screens this time next year. That last bit could perhaps do with rewording as it seems a bit NSFW...

Same number of balls, same sizes, no additional accessories, set up as normal - 15 inside your triangle - 1 cue ball.

Multiple ways to play the game, like with a deck of cards. A very basic way, a points scoring option, a brutal tactical version... ones with particular shots that could change the frame/rack and more, PLUS an introduction to the game this was all developed for... *drum roll please*

...but you'll have to wait a little bit longer for that. Drumsticks away.

So, what we're looking to do is to seek potential customers in advance when we reveal the concept soon, with a reservation funnel of just £1 ($1.30) - which will secure you some additional perks should you pre-order via our Kickstarter crowdfunding page. For example an additional limited edition cueball with our branding on stating you were an original backer via our Kickstarter, plus stickers and all sorts to place on your cue case or the cubicle doors in your local club's bathrooms... totally up to you... exposure is exposure, after all. Alternatively some t'shirts, wallets, cue towels, ball cloths etc.

You will also get yourself a unique link to share with others who order via our site, which will allow you to accrue some rewards, including discounted entry to regional/national competitions, or tickets to spectate and more that we'll be adding to the benefits.

ALSO, in addition to the last paragraph we are seeking potential official tournament organisers - both leagues and championships - whether club, county, state or even country if you're somewhere relatively small like Luxembourg, Andorra or San Marino. So, if you have any experience in running/organising the such, we would be keen to hear from you. You'll have our full support with all the gear.

When we reveal our balls (stop it!) we will also provide info about early bird offers and perks, along with the reservation list. We anticipate crowdfunding in May, go to production in July and the first sets landing with those who pre-order in September-ish. Early Christmas gifts, perhaps?

We have an Instagram and Twitter(X) the using the same name for now with the official name reserved until our public reveal. We're not "posting" but following the odd few here and there.

@newpoolgame on both. You can follow us there for updates, pop us a message or email newpoolgame@protonmail.com

We're hoping you lovely bunch at AZbilliards can get involved also as we would very much like to explore adding our balls to your shop, or with a link for yourselves to direct others our way to order (especially if outside your delivery region).

I'm excited... you're probably not as for now you're just picturing some different looking balls. But just wait and see... *winky face*.

Ciao for now!

Jack

So I want to make sure I understand this.

1.Your going to launch a Kickstarter soon, but there is nothing now.
2. You want me to send you a quid before you launch the Kickstarter and then when you launch the Kickstarter I mention that I sent you a quid and I get some stickers.
3. There is NO guarantee that your Kickstarter will fund and your product will even launch.
4. I'm definitely going to be out my quid...

Back sooner than expected!

Hi Benelli,

1. Yes, in the coming weeks we reveal, then about a month after we launch our Kickstarter.

2. Nope. "So, what we're looking to do is to seek potential customers in advance when we reveal the concept soon, with a reservation funnel of just £1 ($1.30) " it's just a reservation. It gets refunded at any point, but if you back us by ordering a set having reserved with your "quid", you will get access to better rewards. With your set(s) you order, in addition for free, you get some things you can choose from, but definitely free stickers.

3. Absolutely right, as goes with thousands of projects via Kickstarter. Well, actually, we will launch either way, but why not have support from others who get to be part of the journey? Why not have others involved? It means we can order more also. You can otherwise sit back, relax, wait until normal stock is available and pay a little extra if you like, minus the stickers. Everybody likes a sticker.

4. It's just a reservation. It "commits" you, to some extent, and you get updates before others and a window before everyone else to pre-order to grab what you would like before others who haven't reserved.

Sorry if it wasn't clear enough! Hopefully I've answered your questions.

Shoot me some more if you need more clarification.

I'll pass.
Without knowing what it is yet?

I'm not asking for money, not asking for anything at this point. It's simply just to let you know something is brewing and we'll be announcing shortly and that once the concept is revealed, you will have the OPTION to reserve early-bird access for £1 to grab your reward with any set(s) you order.

Do come back soon, I think (hope) you'll be pleasantly surprised!

So everything is basically the same equipment-wise, except the balls look different subtly somehow. So anybody could just play the game by using their existing set and saying 1=X, 2=Y, etc according to whatever the new rules are? You can't really own rules to a game.

Hi Moe, you'd think so based on what I posted, but no, in fact, and you'll see why soon enough that you can't really play this "format" with your current sets.

When I say they look similar - solid colours with a number. But no strange purples or greys.

You're absolutely right, we can't own rules to a game, but you'll struggle to use some of these rules or play the game in the ways we have developed with our balls - which we can own.

All will be revealed! Stay tuned, Moe.

I'll just continue to purchase Dynaspheres Rhodium cue balls and Vanadium (used to be Bronze) ball sets from Kozoom in France:

If you spend over 200 euro and are shipping to the USA, you get free shipping and the lower tax free price. Only challenge is the inventory counts are not the best all the time (I think this is a Dynaspheres issue on their side)...

I'm sorry, but why? There are plenty of games now and about a billion that exist but aren't played any longer. Adding another doesn't strengthen the sport, it dilutes it.
But, but... look how Bonus Ball took off. And it only had about a million dollars of backers' money. Oh.... wait....

Somehow Bonus Ball had been completely wiped from my memory until I read that comment. Had to read up on that debacle.

Yeah, but now you're required to buy another special set of balls for it!

How was bonus ball supposed to hit anyway? I propose shallow water basketball and olympic floundering with or without ball. Fun for the whole family.
