I was watching the Military channel regarding armor. Before Kevlar was widely used, aramith was it's precursor. I just thought that was cool and like to give out purely accurate information to those who care.
Kevlar is a material and Aramith is a brand name. Is there also a material called aramith, or was the precursor to Kevlar a material manufactured by Saluc under the aramith name?
What you probably heard as "Aramith" was probably "aramid" - the synthetic fibers that Kevlar is made from. Where I work, we use several aramid fiber ropes for guying purposes.
