there's nothing better than hearing only the clack of the balls, completely dark... what an atmosphere.

I hear you, I did that tonight, with the windows open and a thunderstorm outside, nothing but balls clicking and thunder in the distance, nothing better in the world.
I was playing against myself, alternating white and yellow, and I stuck myself in the corner behind the other two balls, no way out, so I figured the only shot was the artistic billiards one where you masse into the one ball and bounce off one rail at least twice and hit the other and spin into the other ball, and I pulled it off perfectly, I think I got three hits on the first rail, really lively masse action, hit the long rail and spun right into the second ball. Beautiful, that's why I love the game.
