a pin for jump cue

Uni-Loc makes an aluminium pin that is 5.5 grams!

The only problem is that the insert required weighs 10.5.... :D

Still not too bad at a total of 16g, but I prefer to have a radial pin and no insert so that I can thread a piece of 3/8 dowel for a "shaft-jump" handle. You can also over-bore the hole by a bit, taking more weight out of the back end of the shaft. I like the front of the cue (tip end) to be heavy, and the back end as light as possible. That combination makes getting the cueball up in the air virtually effortless, and I have jumped full balls from 1/4" away using this setup!

Sheldon,
I don't think I understand what you mean by this. Is the 3/8 dowel used as a handle? What size radial pin are you talking about?

There is only one size radial pin....
The dowel is there only to make the 40" minimum requirement. The jump is performed gripping the back of the shaft in thumb and forefinger "dart style".
Basically a shaft-jump, which allows you to get the cueball up REALLY fast.

Which is the lightest pin on the market? I want to make a 40 inch jump cue. Thanks for your time!

If you have the materials I suggest trying for an ashwood shaft. I bought a Taiwanese ashwood jumper and it leaps like a dream!

Both factors are important, strength and weight,
All Radials with the same construction.
G10 ....................03 oz.
Aluminum..............04oz.
Titanium...............08oz.
Stainless.............1.04oz.
Brass..................1.05oz

What about Aircraft Aluminum? Does anybody have one and can you give us the weight and/or strength comparison to the materials above?

Rather confused ...

Jump sticks have to be 40" to be 'legal' and there is NO weight factor.
17 oz., are you kidding? My Scorpion jump stick weighs 8.5 oz..

I have a friend that modified a jump stick, put his own brand of butt tail
on the stick, and drilled holes through the butt, hollowed out the butt
from the butt end. I think it ended up weighing about 4,5 -5 ozs..
