Hows it going folks I am curious about something regarding APA. I have played in APA seasons past and while my team has not done well as a whole I have excelled on my own. Are there specific APA sanctioned tournaments one can go to, I would love to play in the US Open lets say but my jet that I fly everywhere is out of gas lol. In other words i would be dreaming to think i could compete there. I would love to play in more tournaments but not really sure about those big events.

Any Info would be great I am in NY nassau county to be exact.

There is an annual APA National Singles event in Las Vegas.

Your APA League Operator should be able to provide you with information about Local Qualifier events. If you win a local qualifier then you would become eligible for a Regional Event. If you place high enough in the Regional event, then you earn a spot in the National Event.

This is the way to go with APA

I think if you want to go to Vegas or play more tournaments with APA this is the way to do it.
Be on a team and keep yourself an APA member

Do the singles qualifyer events in your area or mebe doubles to get qualified

Play the tourneys for singles events.

If the team every does something thats just a bonus.

IMHO

The APA also sponsors the US Amateur every year, which is not handicapped. You have to win a qualifier to get to the event, and qualifiers are open to members and non-members of the APA, but members get a discount on the entry fee.

My area's LO also sponsors a local tour for 6 & under members, a Ladies' Tour, Top Gun tournaments, and various other events (both team and singles) throughout the year.

I new jersey the apa league operator has singles events called boards. Players are grouped together by skill level. For example, 2's and 3's, 4's and 5's and then 6's and 7's. Each plays a small an 8 person board or singles event. If enough people show up then only one skill level will compete in a board. Each board is single elimination. If you get knocked out just sign up for another one.
There are several of these events each year. The winners of the boards get together for a regional tournament. The winners of the regionals go to vegas in april. Usually one person out of each 16 person event goes to vegas.
If you want more competition you can move up a skill level. You cannot move down.
Good luck.

I know on the West Coast that have a 3 person tournament called SouthWest Challenge. I believe they have the same thing on the East Coast.

If you go out to Vegas for the APA finals, you can play in mini mania events without competing in the finals. Almost 24 hours a day. For weeks. Just need to fund your trip. Other than that, if you are in NY, why not get into a few 9 ball events ? Just about any Joss tour event will pit you against some of the best in the country, so no worry about no competition. Typical entry fee is $100.
